CES 2020: Ring Unveils New Devices and Gives a Sneak Preview of What’s to Come This Year
By Ring on January 6, 2020
At Ring, we’re committed to our mission of making neighborhoods safer. This year, we’re doubling down on whole-home security and introducing innovative products that expand our lineup of Smart Lighting devices and mark our first entry into the access control space. We continue to develop products and features that work seamlessly together for all homes, making it easier for our customers to create a smart and fully customized whole-home security system.
Lighting is an essential component to home security, which is why we're thrilled to announce five new Ring Smart Lighting products that provide an affordable and effective way to light up the dark areas in and around your home.
We're kicking off 2020 at CES with our first-ever Ring Smart LED Lightbulbs, starting with two models that you can use to upgrade the lamps and fixtures that you already have. The A19 Smart LED Bulb is designed for inside your house and for covered areas outdoors, while the PAR38 Smart LED Bulb is perfect for recessed lighting both indoors and out. You can control both of them from the Ring App with the Ring Bridge — turn the lights on and off, adjust their brightness, and set schedules.
Going to get home a little later than you planned? Use the Ring App to turn your porch light on so you don't come back to a dark house. Watching TV after dinner? Dim the lamps from the comfort of your couch. Going for a work trip or a vacation? Schedule your lights to turn on and off for the evening while you are away. Both bulbs can be grouped together and are easy to program to fit your lifestyle.
We're also launching three new solar-powered outdoor lights so you can add wire-free illumination all around your home, without having to connect them to an electrical outlet or a power line. Solar Floodlight works best in large outdoor spaces, like your driveway or backyard, while Solar Pathlight is perfect for walkways and paths around your property, and Solar Steplight is ideal for brightening steps and tight spaces. These three solar lights are easy to install, motion-activated, and can also be controlled from the Ring App with the Ring Bridge.
Like with all Ring Smart Lighting products, you can use the Ring Bridge to link the new smart bulbs and solar lights to other compatible Ring devices. That means when one of your smart lights senses motion, your video doorbell and security cameras can begin recording automatically and vice versa — if your Ring camera, doorbell, or alarm is triggered, your lights, both inside and out, can turn on as well.
Ring Smart LED Lightbulbs and Ring Smart Lighting Solar devices will be available on Ring.com, Amazon.com, and at Home Depot on April 1, 2020.
Next, we’re proud to unveil a brand new product, our first-ever access control device: Ring Access Controller Pro. It lets you remotely operate electronically controlled gates from your mobile device. When paired with a Ring Video Doorbell or Security Camera (sold separately), you can open the Live View on your Ring App, see who's at the gate, and let them in from wherever you are. Ring Access Controller Pro is particularly handy for your Amazon deliveries. With Key by Amazon, your Amazon driver can get one-time access to deliver your packages safely and securely inside your gate.
Ring Access Controller Pro Cellular and Ring Access Controller Pro Ethernet are available today on Ring.com and Amazon.com for $299. Ring Access Controller Pro Cellular is also available as a bundle with the Stick Up Cam Battery for $398.99 on Amazon.com.
Across all of our products and services, your privacy and ability to control your security, devices, and personal information is a priority. That's why we're enhancing the Ring App with the new Control Center. This latest feature will make it easy to view and control privacy and security settings from one dashboard. The Control Center will initially let you see and manage your connected mobile, desktop, and tablet devices, as well as third-party services; it will also enable you to opt out of receiving video requests in areas where local police have joined the Neighbors App. Future versions of this feature will make it easy to view and control other privacy and security settings right from the Ring App. The Control Center will give you more visibility into how your data is kept secure and private by Ring. It is expected to come to the Ring App later this month.
Lastly, we're announcing a lineup of premium bundles designed with the professional installer in mind for customers in the U.S. who want a little extra. The X Line enhances some of the Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras with a three-year limited warranty as well as a subscription to a Ring Protect plan for the lifetime of the device, which allows users to review, share, and save videos for up to 60 days.
The X Line will be available in a variety of product options through select professional installation vendors later this year.
Today’s announcements are only a preview of what’s to come from Ring this year, so stay tuned.
