Ring Unveils a New Generation of Smarter, More Connected Security at CES 2026
By Ring on January 6, 2026
At Ring, we’re focused on building security solutions that are smarter, more connected, and easier to use—whether you’re protecting a single room, a vehicle on the go, or an entire jobsite. This year at CES, Ring is introducing a new generation of devices and AI-powered features designed to deliver clearer awareness, stronger reliability, and meaningful insights wherever they're needed. From always-on sensors powered by Amazon Sidewalk to advanced mobile security for businesses to intelligent alerts that adapt to your routines, these innovations reflect our commitment to making security more accessible and more effective for everyone.
New AI Features That Make Alerts More Personal, Helpful, and Timely
Ring is introducing AI Unusual Event Alert and Active Warnings, two new intelligent features designed to help you prioritize what matters most and prevent incidents before they happen.
AI Unusual Event Alert identifies and alerts you to activity around your home that may be out of the ordinary. By using Ring Video Descriptions, this new feature learns and adapts to everyday routine patterns at your property, and so you’re notified only when something unusual occurs, minimizing unnecessary alerts.
Because every home is different, what counts as “unusual” is unique to each camera. For example, if a pack of coyotes appears in your yard—and that’s not something you normally see—the feature would recognize that activity as unusual and alert you.
Active Warnings combines Video Descriptions with automated, context-aware audio warnings to help deter potential threats in real time. When a camera detects a person, advanced computer vision analyzes the situation and delivers specific warnings based on details like location and actions. For customers enrolled in Virtual Security Guard, Active Warnings offers a speedy deterrent message while an agent reviews the event. Customers can also customize which cameras activate warnings in each system mode—Away, Home, or Disarmed.
AI Unusual Event Alert and Active Warnings will be available later this month to customers with a compatible Ring subscription plan and Video Descriptions enabled (excluding IL).

We plan to expand to other regions, including the EU, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan later this year. We’re looking forward to expanding Sidewalk and sharing helpful information with customers about how Sidewalk works and enables better coverage and range for devices, as well as options available to them.

The Ring Appstore is a new offering that provides customers increased value by expanding the benefits of their existing Ring videos, Live Views, and other data through integration with third-party apps. The Ring Appstore is available directly in the Ring app or at Ring.com for U.S. customers with a compatible Ring subscription (certain apps may also require a third-party subscription and account linking). In the coming weeks, customers will be able to browse a growing selection of third-party applications designed to help you get more value from your Ring cameras.
Apps in the Appstore are built by third-party developers and focus on specific use cases, from small business operations to everyday needs around the home. Together, these apps help turn cameras into tools that provide timely alerts and actionable insights. Learn more about Ring Appstore here.
