With Ring, Vacation and Peace of Mind Go Hand in Hand

By Ring on July 2, 2025

Vacations are for unplugging — but let’s be honest, it’s always nice to peek in on home every now and again. Whether it’s a surprise visitor, a pet check-in, or an unexpected rescue, the following moments show that with a little help from Ring, peace of mind can always travel with you.

Bike Theft Deterred From Miles Away

One morning while Carole was on vacation, she received a Motion Alert from her Ring App. Curious, she tapped into Live View and was stunned to see someone trying to steal her electric bikes right out of the carport. Thankfully, “the [Ring] siren option was right there, so I tapped it,” she says, which “sent him running empty handed.” Even from miles away, Carole was able to stop the stranger in their tracks - all thanks to her Ring device.

Man Comforts Dog via Two-Way Talk

While Jeremy was on vacation, he received an unexpected Motion Alert via his Ring App and opened Live View to find his puppy, Dexter, sitting alone on the front porch. To Jeremy’s dismay, Dexter had escaped from his local doggy daycare and made his way home — just as a blizzard was making its way toward his neighborhood. Jeremy immediately called the doggy daycare to send someone to his house, and in the meantime, used Two-Way Talk to soothe Dexter until help arrived. Looking back, Jeremy says, "I truly believe that the Ring doorbell saved my dog's life. Without it, he may have been stuck outside with that blizzard approaching."

Dinosaur Makes a Surprise Visit

When Erin’s brother and sister-in-law went on vacation, their kids — Mileena and Matthew — stayed with Erin’s parents. Wanting to bring a little joy to her niece and nephew from afar, Erin had an idea: combine her T-Rex costume with her Ring Video Doorbell. “It was a cold snowy day,” Erin recalls, “so I told my dad to go live on the [Ring Doorbell] so I could entertain [them] for a few minutes and make them laugh.” Thanks to Ring, Erin pulled off the perfect long-distance dino surprise!

Wild Pig Makes Some New Friends

While Sanna was out of town, her Ring device captured an unexpected visitor in the front yard — a small pig happily playing with her free-range chickens. With no dog on the property, she thinks the pig may have felt safe enough to wander in. Watching the footage from afar brought Sanna real joy. “I love this video so much,” she says. “This makes me smile every time [I see it], and I [wanted] to share it with everyone to bring them a smile, too.”

Beloved Cats Monitored From Afar

Adam was spending some much-needed time away from home, but still made sure to use his Ring device to check in on his cats. When he called out to Ozzy using Two-Way Talk, it was Smokey who showed up on camera instead — a surprise that made him smile. Adam says Ring gives him peace of mind, no matter where he is, allowing him to check on his cats and make sure their automatic feeder is doing its job around the clock.

No matter where your travels take you, it’s comforting to know you’re never too far from home. With your Ring device and a single tap, you can check in, share a laugh, or even step in when it matters most.
