Snowflakes and Smiles: Finding Joy in the Winter Season

By Ring on December 25, 2024

The winter season brings a chance to catch snowflakes and ride sleighs through the snow, creating cherished memories that can be remembered long after the snow has melted. With the help of Ring products like the Floodlight Cam and Video Doorbell, these moments can be captured and shared again and again. As we enter into the thick of winter, let’s take a look at how others have enjoyed this time of year.

A Winter Surprise

Ben’s eyes lit up with wonder as he opened the front door, witnessing a sight he hadn’t seen in years - a blanket of snow covering his front lawn. This wasn’t Ben’s first time seeing snow, but a good snow day was rare as he and his neighbors were residents of Oklahoma and were mostly accustomed to ice. Excited by the snowfall, Ben and his family headed outside to make the most of it by running around the backyard and engaging in a snowball fight. The surprise snow turned an ordinary day into a wintery wonderful one.

A Beary Merry Winter

A momma and baby bear duo strolled past a Ring Floodlight Cam during a snowfall, treating viewers to an unexpected delight. The curious cub paused for an impromptu dance, seemingly enchanted by the falling snowflakes. The moment serves as a heartwarming reminder that the simple joys of winter can be appreciated across all species.

The Great Snowfall (and a reminder to be safe)

One snowy day, Kate stepped outside to retrieve her jacket from the car. But as she turned the corner, she heard a thunderous noise and was stunned to see a massive pile of snow that had fallen just moments after she passed. While the snow pile nearly missed Kate, it was a wakeup call. “With lots of people coming in and out of the house and cars parked in the driveway and people coming in and out that door, it could be something that was dangerous," Kate says, "So it's awesome that we're aware of it now and can prevent something in the future. Be sure to prepare your home for winter to prevent accidents from happening.

The Snow Angel Next Door

In the midst of winter's snowy embrace, the act of clearing a neighbor's driveway stands as a heartwarming gesture of one's community spirit. And for George, who had just moved into his neighborhood, stepping outside to see his driveway being cleared by his neighbor was a much appreciated gesture. Such small acts of generosity can brighten even the coldest day, reminding us all of the warmth that exists in our hearts.

Revving Through Winter

Matt’s son Graham has been learning to drive his dad’s 4-wheeler to help haul firewood on their property. On this wintery morning, Graham decided to replace the firewood and haul his younger sisters on the sleds for a bit of frosty fun. “I was at work, got a Ring alert, and checked my app," Matt recalls. "By the time I accessed it, all I heard was faint screaming. Intrigued and slightly concerned, I kept watching and out of nowhere the quad came blazing across the screen. I’ve hauled the kids around a few times on the quad over the last few years and with my son learning to drive, he must have thought, 'why not haul my sister's instead of firewood? Dad did it!' When I saw the quad, I laughed out loud in my office."
