Critter-ful Ring Videos to Help Celebrate National Wildlife Day

By Ring on August 28, 2024

For over a decade, Ring devices have captured countless unbelievable moments, and as a community, it’s often the videos of unique critters and natural wildlife that we find the most fascinating. National Wildlife Day is a great opportunity to focus on preservation efforts and raise awareness of all species, many of which live in our own backyards. As we celebrate, let’s take a moment to recognize these incredible creatures, and how in many ways, they’re just like us!

They Enjoy Nature's Beauty

Animals are a common sight in Mark’s neighborhood, so he often turns his cameras away from his house to see what wildlife might appear. On this day, a group of turkeys strolled by his home, and as they took in the sunrise, Mark knew this moment was special. As it turns out, the simple pleasures of a beautiful morning aren’t just for humans.

They're Insistent!

Take a look at this bird that pecked like crazy at a Ring device. While there’s likely many options for food nearby, this particular bird must have been craving something different and decided to tap away at the lens instead. It seems like we’re not the only species who likes attention…

They Love Cozy Spaces

Jo and her husband are from South Africa, a part of the world where there are no raccoons, so they were surprised to learn that a mother and her cubs had taken up residence in their attic. After noticing a hole in their roof, they repositioned their Ring camera in the hopes that a video could help them locate the critters once and for all. The plan worked, and the resulting video was too cute not to share. Thankfully, the raccoon and her babies were safely relocated by trained professionals, and Jo’s roof was patched up in no time.

They Just Want to Have Fun

Now this one is bear-y entertaining! A wildlife photographer was thrilled when his Ring camera captured footage of these bear cubs taking turns on his outdoor swing. Look how much they’re enjoying themselves! If you squint, it almost looks like a group of fun-loving kids!

They Get Hungry

Some animals are notorious for stealing food, and bears are among the worst offenders, but no one would ever expect a bear to sneak into their home and raid their fridge! Take a look at this bear, who pushed through an open window to gain entry before helping itself to some frozen lasagna. It’s one thing to worry about bears while on a camping trip, but having one casually stroll through your home is quite the wild experience.

They Just Want to be Heard

Did you know elk could make this sound? This one wandered up to the Ring camera and wasted no time before bellowing out a loud, piercing scream. It’s an unexpected outburst, for sure, but one that proves just how expressive and vocal these majestic creatures can be when they have something to say.

Sometimes, They Make Mistakes

We all know animals can be territorial, and sometimes their instincts can lead to hilarious mishaps. When a cat was left with some food while its owners were out of town, this raccoon tried to claim the meal for itself. But as you can see, it didn’t go well! As it turns out, animals make mistakes, too. Who do you think is to blame?
