Ring Launches Community Requests: A New Way to Help Your Community
By Ring on September 4, 2025
This April, we announced our partnership with Axon to bring Community Requests to Ring Neighbors, in line with our mission of making neighborhoods safer. Today, we’re excited to begin rolling out Community Requests in the United States.
We've heard from so many of you about wanting to help your community when something happens in your neighborhood. Take a hit-and-run accident, for example - every minute counts when someone is trying to identify a vehicle that fled the scene. Community Requests creates a simple way for you to help if you choose to, while staying in full control over your videos.
How Community Requests Work
Here's how Community Requests work:
1. When a crime is reported, local public safety agencies who are Verified and Axon Evidence users can submit a Community Request. Each request must include:
2. The request appears publicly on the Neighbors feed, and Ring users within the designated area receive a notification.
3. As a Ring camera owner, you decide what happens next. You can share relevant video clips if you want to help, or simply ignore the notification. If you ignore the request, the agency will not know; your anonymity and videos are protected. The choice is entirely yours.
4. Videos shared in response to Community Requests go directly to Axon Evidence, a secure evidence management system where they can be verified for authenticity and integrity. This also creates a complete audit trail of how and when public safety agencies collect information.

Your Privacy, Your Choice
Your privacy and control over your videos and information are non-negotiable, and your participation is completely optional. Public safety agencies can't see who received a notification or who chose not to respond. You can even turn off Community Request notifications altogether if you prefer. By combining community safety with strong privacy protections, Community Requests respects individual choice while helping neighborhoods thrive.
From Door-to-Door to Digital
Agencies already make these requests today, but in an analog and inefficient way — going door to door to ask if you’ll share your video. Community Requests make the process faster, more efficient, and fully auditable, all while respecting individual privacy. Think of it like inviting people to an event. Instead of using the old manual method of calling or approaching every person individually, we can save everyone's time and energy by creating an event online and allowing people to respond if and when they want to, and a full record (of RSVPs) is all kept in one place.
Our Commitment
We believe that when neighbors have simple, secure ways to look out for each other, we all benefit. As we expand Community Requests beyond the initial agencies, we remain committed to continuous improvement. We’ll keep listening to feedback as we work together to build stronger, safer communities.
